CYP-GHRIP is the Children and Young People Gambling Harm Research and Innovation Partnership. The partnership is building research infrastructure to support prevention and policy studies on gambling participation and harm among children, young people and emerging adults.
The site is a searchable metadata catalogue. It helps users identify studies, variables, questionnaires, gambling measures, risk/protective factors, participant characteristics and access routes that may support future research.
The catalogue indexes cohort studies, population surveys, panel studies and relevant contextual or administrative datasets. The focus is on sources with gambling participation, gambling harm, risk/protective factor or related metadata relevant to children and young people. No. This is a metadata catalogue only. It indexes variable names, labels, questionnaire wording, documentation links and access information, but it does not host restricted individual-level data. Dataset records point to the original repository or study team for access.
Variables were identified through searches of data dictionaries, questionnaires, codebooks and open data archives. Gambling-related terms, measure names and harm concepts were used to flag candidate items, which were then reviewed and categorised for the catalogue.
Dataset / study: The overall data collection, such as a cohort, survey or panel study.
Wave / sweep: A time point or round of data collection within a study.
Questionnaire / instrument: The form or survey document used to collect data at a given wave.
Variable: A data column in a dataset, identified by a variable name and label.
Question: The original wording used in the questionnaire that maps to one or more variables.
Use the home-page search box or the Search page with terms such as "harm", "PGSI", "problem gambling", "participation" or "online". You can also use the Explore page to browse topic categories directly.
Use the Age group filter on the Search page and combine it with the Role filter set to "Gambling measure". The Visualisations page also summarises age group coverage across the catalogue.
Each study page includes an access section with repository links, application routes and notes on open, safeguarded, controlled or study-managed access. You will need to apply through the study team or repository directly.
The catalogue is a living evidence-mapping resource. Some studies have full variable-level metadata, while others currently have high-level documentation only. Coverage flags show where further extraction, data-owner contact or manual review is needed.
Yes. Use the "Add to basket" button on search results to collect items. The Basket page lets you review and export your selection as CSV or Excel for data access requests, protocol development or evidence mapping.
